Spring Awakening: A Season of Creativity

Spring Awakening: A Season of Creativity

£225.00

Remember the unbridled curiosity of when you were a child? Nose pressed against the window, eyes wide with wonder at the first flashes of Spring? Remember the endless questions, the insatiable thirst to explore, to discover the secrets the world held?

Somewhere along the way, that spark might have dimmed. But what if you could rekindle it? What if spring wasn't just a season, but a chance to rediscover the magic in the ordinary, the thrill of the unseen?

The Spring Awakening is a season-long creative exploration. I will encourage you, challenge you and guide you as you work alongside a brilliantly supportive community of fellow creatives to move forwards together at a steady pace.

Together, we will work through a creative brief, as you discover how to interpret it through your own eyes and in your own style. It’s your opportunity to come together with other likeminded photographers to explore, inspire and learn - being fearless and imaginative.

Forget filters and the pressure of external validation. This journey isn't about technical jargon or the "perfect shot". It's about slowing down, truly seeing the world come alive, and going beyond snapshots. We'll learn to see with intention, framing emotions, translating the whispers of the wind into captivating visuals.

Unplug. Unwind. Breathe. Leave the rush of everyday life behind. Disconnect from the digital noise and reconnect with the symphony of spring. Discover the joy of mindful observation, where the rustle of leaves becomes a lullaby, and the dance of a butterfly, a silent poem.

Starting on 21st March with a face to face zoom session I want to help you grow creatively throughout the season, concluding on 30th May. The Spring Awakening will be completely accessible to photographers of all levels and abilities. You will gain confidence and a wider appreciation of what it truly means to be creative, expressive and fully engaged in your art.

Embrace the unexpected. Think of it as a meditation in motion. Feel the earth beneath your feet, the sun on your face, the wind whispering secrets in your ear. As you connect with spring through your lens, you'll rediscover yourself, too. Uncovering the quiet joy of simply being, while reigniting the spark of creativity that lies within.

This is more than a workshop, it's an awakening. A chance to shed the winter blues, and to blossom alongside the season.

how will the workshop work?

There will be two live zoom sessions a month - each recorded and emailed to those who might not be able to make it. A summary of each session will also be emailed in case you can’t or don’t watch the zoom recording. The zoom sessions will take place on alternate Thursdays at 1830 BST and last approximately 1 hour.

The initial session will give out our assignment and something to inspire you to think deeply about it. The following sessions will be building on the project I will offer a new technique that you can use to explore the concepts further. Each technique will require minimal equipment apart from paper, pencils, scissors, camera or smart phone - you may need access to a printer but it can be a very basic desktop machine or a more sophisticated photo printer.

Should you wish to share images there will be a private Facebook Group, alternatively you can post to Instagram (very brave) using the hashtag #springawakening or into the Whatsapp group.

Direct feedback is available by email.

what do I need to do?

Simply sign up online, and delve into the process as deeply as you choose to.

What will it cost?

I want to make this accessible for as many people as possible. The cost of the course is £225 - just £3.22 a day (less than the cost of your morning coffee, offering benefits that will last so much longer!)

How will I benefit from the Summer Sanctuary?

Not only does the Spring Awakening offer a creative project to delve into as Spring emerges, but you’ll gain a sense of belonging to a community, self confidence, fun, permission to play, non judgemental feedback in a non competitive environment, and a small body of work that you can keep to yourself or share with your peers at the end, inspiration from the wider group and support from me!
